Welcome To The Revolution
What Minitokyo needs is a complete change in terms of the kinds of wallpapers people submit. 90% of the time you see either cliche, the 10 minutes spent variety, or just plain crappy wallpapers. there are not enough people who are willing to make different styles of walls and sacrifice the 80 favs or top subs or whatever. and its beginning to annoy me.
some people will say this is the fault of the noobs and i don't disagree on some points. but what the real problem is that some of the more experienced wallers are making just as much junk as the noobs. if you've been making walls long enough to be 'good' at it, at least use your skill and make something that can be truly appreciated as a wall. the cute girl and weak bg/effects combo doesn't count.
at least show effort,(1) spending time to plan the layout and to make the elements of the wall look balanced, and put thought into have bg elements that properly complement the scan (2) extracting the scan properly, cause its amazing how many people have walls with jagged lines and pixelation on the edges of the scans, (3) making sure to CREDIT properly, and to make sure you aren't stealing anything that is not yours or not allowed to use/take, (4) spend the time to find a good quality scan and if it is LQ, learn to vector dammit! >.< (5) finally, if you follow this simple and fragmented guideline, you'll find: (i) your not FLOODING MT WITH LQ WORK and (ii) your work isn't being deleted by bot[Chii]
as for commenting, its not bad to make a nice comment but wouldn't you think it would be more useful to the artist to actually give advice on how to improve? specifically point out details that you didn't like and give a method that you think will solve/improve the offending element.
of course there are walls that you have no problems with, so instead, point out details that you especially like, don't just give some one liner that fufills the 64 character requirement cause that's no better than spam. UTTERLY USELESS
FINAL WORDS FROM A MADMAN: i want to try to improve the overall quality of MT's wallpapers and reduce the rate of upload cause what is happening now is just ridiculous. this group is for noobs who want to improve walling skills and oldies who want change on the walling front of MT.

Thanks, this is a great group! The walls I make are easier for my bad eyes to see, yet hopefully have a fresh perspective on a subject. I'll never be a fancy waller, but still want to improve and get better.

While I'm not a member in this group, and keep my work extremely independent, I must say, that after all these years of being aware of this group's existence, I've never really had the pleasure of stopping by to read what this digital organization was all about. I agree with some points discussed on this group's user page. I thought I'd simply take a moment to comment and express my agreement (at least from an adult perspective) regarding just how much trash actually gets posted for popularity's sake and favoured, while some other tremendously well constructed pieces more often than not go entirely unnoticed. It's a pity, you're administration staff are quite right. Diversity is all-important, but keeping an open mind is of equal - and in fact - unnegotiable value. Spread awareness by intelligence, not by force.
However, incorporating this knowledge one should be cautious with regard to 'advising on how to better an offending element'. No one has the right to tell some one else how to do what they're already doing especially not from an artistic stand point. Doing so only means that the reviewer is discussing what they want to see the art look like. That's wrong. It's not about what your critics think the art should look like, it's about how the artist feels about the piece at the time. Genuine experienced graphic designers couldn't give a toss what the opinions of other people regarding 'improvements' to their work might be. The work is finished, complete, published, over. Most likely, it won't be changed - ever. So why bother with pointless commentary regarding what 'should' have been done? Seems pretty silly now doesn't it? A straight - 'This is what I liked' or 'This is what I didn't like' (if that's all the person is capable of) is sufficient. Anyone who believes themselves superior enough to 'advise' a designer is obviously not a designer themselves, but rather a critic with too much time on their hands. Real designers and even fan-based designers are out there actually walling, not gripping.
Regardless, I wish you all good luck on your cyber-space mission. MT needs all the help they can get sometimes. Bless their hearts. lol ~___^
